Parts Return and Restocking Application

Maximize Revenue and Control

Are inconsistent returns and uncaptured restocking fees eroding your parts department's profitability?

The Parts Return and Restocking 4.2 application from FDC Solutions is a highly parameterized application designed to automatically enforce your dealership's parts return policy, ensuring fairness, consistency, and maximum revenue recovery on every transaction. Integrated seamlessly through field-developed-code hooks in the DBS/DBSi Counter/Shop Sale programs, this application gives you the control and security needed to manage returns efficiently.

Key Benefits: Enforce Policy, Eliminate Loss, and Improve Inventory

The Parts Return and Restocking application transforms your return process into a disciplined, automated function, enabling several key benefits.

Capture Restocking Fees Automatically

Ensure every applicable restocking fee is charged, calculated as a percentage of the original sale and applied as a miscellaneous charge on the return document.

Standardized, Flexible Policy Application

Apply your policy to both Counter Returns and Shop Returns. The application allows you to customize policy based on part status (i.e., stocked/non-stocked, returnable & non-stocked, non-returnable) and the days elapsed since the original purchase.

Prevent Obsolete Inventory Accumulation

Reject any attempt to return a non-stock, non-returnable part and automatically reject parts not purchased from your dealership, protecting you from being stuck with obsolete or non-compliant inventory.

Powerful, Customizable Features

The Parts Return and Restocking application is built for total flexibility and security, ensuring it adapts to your specific operational needs.

Granular Fee Calculation

Restocking fees are intelligently determined by the part status and the days elapsed since the purchase date. Fees can be applied at the document level or by line-item when marketing programs exist.

Integration with Work Orders

For shop returns, the system validates that parts exist on the work order and uses the document date from the Work Order Parts Detail screen to determine the correct applicable fee.

Data Integrity and Control

Ensure returned parts are properly validated. The system requires users to retrieve parts using the original invoice (F13) and prevents a part from being returned more than once against the same invoice.

Reason Code Flexibility

Require users to apply a Reason Code for returns, with the ability to adjust restocking percentages based on a specific code.

Core Return Policy

The policy can also be applied to Core Returns, extending your control over all return types.
