Force Hose Assembly to Alternate Stores
Maximize Efficiency for Your Hose Builds
Are your stores that do not build hoses automatically sourcing hose assemblies to Caterpillar, resulting in slower turnaround times and missed opportunities for internal sourcing efficiency?
The Force Hose Assembly to Alternate Stores application from FDC Solutions is designed to override the default sourcing behavior and automatically redirect hose assembly backorders to your own capable stores. This solution empowers your dealership to better control the hose assembly process, drastically improve internal logistics, and accelerate order fulfillment for your customers.
The Problem: Inefficient Default Sourcing
Without this application, DBS/DBSi automatically defaults the sourcing of hose assemblies to Caterpillar (APO). This default process means stores that do not build hoses could not easily utilize the capacity of stores that do.
The Solution: Internal Control and Speed
The Force Hose Assembly to Alternate Stores application ensures that a store that does not build hose assemblies can now easily source the order to a store that does. This shift from external to internal sourcing is treated like a backorder transfer, providing a clear, trackable workflow.
Accelerated Fulfillment. The sourcing store picks or builds and ships the hose assembly directly to the ordering store for backorder filling upon receipt.
Decentralized Production. The hose build report prints directly at the sourcing store, rather than at the selling store, streamlining the production process.
Seamless Logistics. The customer shipping list prints at the ordering store showing the order went to backorder, and the backorder transfer/direct ship transfer documents are printed at the sourcing store.
Key Features for Unprecedented Flexibility
Our enhancement is designed for maximum control and adaptability within the DBS/DBSi environment.
Capacity-Based Sourcing
Hose assemblies can now be sourced from any store capable of building them, regardless of their current on-hand quantities.
Intuitive Transfer Process
When creating an order, while sourcing defaults to Caterpiller (APO), users can easily change the sourcing on the Backorder Transfer Review screen to select from a list of all capable stores.
Comprehensive Store List
The system provides a complete listing of stores that can source the part on the Backorder Transfer Review screen and within Shipping Exceptions (MNTPCSHP), regardless of available on-hand quantity.
Advanced Parameter Control
Stores that are not capable of building hose assemblies must be set up in DBS/DBSi. The Build Hose Assembly parameter on the Store Parameters screen (MNTPCSTP) allows for granular control over what types of assemblies are built at each location.
