The Parts Demand Override application from FDC Solutions is a software solution that gives your Inventory Control operations team unprecedented, granular control over the final history posting store/facility and demand quantities. This module ensures your inventory replenishment is based on your strategic decisions, not unintended system defaults.


The Problem: Lack of Control Over Demand History

In complex dealership environments, particularly after making system adjustments to meet Caterpillar metrics, critical issues can arise.

  • Inaccurate Replenishment. Loss of call and demand history due to Smart Sourcing parameter changes means inventory is not replenished internally where it is needed, causing stores with material to sit idle while other branches struggle.

  • Misleading Metrics. Demand is posted to the wrong location (e.g., many TC 64s piling up for one-day orders going to the ordering inventory store), skewing your branch metrics.

  • Lack of Control. Outside of Smart Sourcing, inventory control lacks the ability to precisely dictate where demand is ultimately posted.

Key Features for Intelligent Demand Management

Granular Override Criteria

Define precise rules for demand and history adjustments based on multiple part and order details, including SOS, ordering inventory store, lead time, original and new transaction codes, commodity code, BEC code, order method, part stock status and activity indicator.

Smart History Redirection

Override the current history store number with a designated History Store (which can be a valid DBS store, a Caterpillar depot, or the ordering store). This ensures both the Audit Trail and Demand/Call history are recorded against the correct location.

Demand Adjustment

Use the Percentage of Calls to Record feature to automatically calculate the actual demand to record. For instance, you can choose to record only 70% of a large order's call and demand to mitigate its impact on future stock decisions.

Transaction Code Mapping

Automatically override the original Transaction Code with a pre-defined New Transaction Code (e.g., changing a TC 64 to a TC 61), correcting mis-posted demand in real-time.

Full Accountability

A new log file (Transaction History Override Log File) keeps a complete record of the original values that were overridden, ensuring a clear, auditable history of all changes.
